Aloysius Hettiarachchi (Director)

Aloysius worked in Sri Lanka, Nigeria and Brunei after graduating from the University of Ceylon in the late sixties. He started his career as a civil engineer in the State Engineering Corporation of Sri Lanka, which handled almost all government development projects in the country at the time. He was in charge of the construction of the Chinese funded Pugoda Textile Mills project from commencement to completion in the early 70s.

He then moved to Nigeria where he was involved in design, construction and supervision of several major highway projects over a period of 12 years before returning to Sri Lanka. After a spell of five years in Roads Development Authority of Sri Lanka and RCDC he left for Brunei where he worked with consultants designing and supervision of major highway, drainage, sewerage and building projects for about twenty years.

He has wide experience in the use of software packages in the design of the above-mentioned branches of engineering; software he developed has been used in the design of highways in Brunei.

He obtained certification as a Java programmer in 2001. As a hobby, he is currently involved in software development using Microsoft's .NET framework as well as Autodesk's ObjectARX Application Programming Interface in AutoCAD with the C# programming language.

M.B. S. Fernando (Director)

 

M.B.S. Fernando is a Chartered Engineer, a Member of the Institution of Civil Engineers (London), a Fellow of the Institution of Engineers (Sri Lanka), a Chartered Member of the Institute of Logistics and Transport in Sri Lanka, a Member of the Geological Society of Sri Lanka and a Fellow of the Institute of Certified Professional Managers.
He holds a Degree of Master of Science in Transportation from the University of Moratuwa, Sri Lanka and Diploma in Arbitration from the Institute for the Developm.ent of Commercial law and Practice.
Fernando has held the position of Chairman RDA on six occasions under successive Governments. He has served as Chairman Road Construction and Development Company (pvt) Ltd., Chairman, National Council for Road Safety, Managing Director, Road Construction and Development Co. (pvt) Ltd., General Manager RDA, Chief Engineer (Highways) and a Senior Lecturer at the University of Moratuwa. He has served as a director of National Equipment and Machinery Organization, and a director of Rehabilitation and Reconstruction Authority for the North, a member and a management consultant of the National Transport Commission and a director of the Ceylon Fisheries Harbour Corporation. He is presently the Team Leader for the Southern Transport Development Project South Section from Galle to Matara.


Prof. P. B. R Dissanayake (Associate)

Professor Dissanayake graduated from the University of Peradeniya, Sri Lanka with a BSc. (Hons) in Engineering and holds a Master of Engineering and PhD from the Ehime University of Japan.

 

He was a Fulbright Scholar in 2008 Columbia University, USA, Endeavour Fellow in 2008 Monash University Australia, JASSO Research Fellow, Ehime University in 2007 and Monbusho Scholar from 1992-1998 in Japan.

He was awarded Young Scientist Award 2007 for Excellence in Scientific Research by National Science and Technology Commission of Sri Lanka and Overseas Prize for the paper published in Institution of Civil Engineers, London, UK, 2007 titled “Lessons learnt from tsunami damage in Sri Lanka”.

He has published over 100 papers. He chaired three international conferences on Mitigation of the Risk of Natural Hazards (ICMRNR) of IIIRR in 2007, Sustainable Built Environment (ICSBE) in 2010, Structural Engineering, Construction and Management (ICSECM) in 2011, which were held in Sri Lanka.

He is one of the chairs of the International Conference on Sustainable Built Environment (ICSBE 2012) which will be held on December 2012 at Earl’s Regency Kandy Sri Lanka (www.icsbe.org).

Prof. Dissanayake was recently awarded Australia Alumni Excellence Award 2012.



 
Lakshika Hettiarachchi (Associate)
 
Lakshika brings to AEC over 12 years of professional experience in project and program management as well as business management. She worked for many years as the Projects Director at a Singapore-based digital agency where she worked with numerous multi-national clients to define and execute CRM strategies and deploy online marketing systems and roll out online campaigns.
 
She has lead and directed numerous project and account teams for multi-national clients throughout her career, working with cross functional teams to deliver desired stakeholder outcomes.
 
Lakshika holds a Master of Science in Management of Technology from the National University of Singapore and a Bachelor of Computer & Information Science from the University of South Australia. She is a certified Project Management Professional (PMP®) and Program Manager (MSP®).
